Northern Illegal Border Crossings Surge 50-Fold Under Biden Administration

Illegal crossings at the U.S.-Canada border have spiked dramatically, increasing over 50-fold since President Biden took office. Border Patrol agents along the northern border, particularly in sectors like northern New York, are dealing with an overwhelming surge in migrants. The number of apprehensions in these areas rose to over 6,100 in the current fiscal year, compared to just 100 before Biden assumed office.

The most significant rise has occurred in the Swanton sector, which includes parts of New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire. This region, known for its rugged terrain and extreme weather conditions, has historically seen little illegal migration. However, as policies focused on the southern border have tightened, migrants have shifted to the less-guarded northern route.

This change coincides with the Biden administration’s efforts to clamp down on crossings at the southern border, which has forced migrants to seek alternate entry points.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) data reflects the overwhelming increase. Migrants from Mexico, Guatemala, and Haiti are the most frequently caught crossing from Canada into the U.S. Despite the difficult and often dangerous conditions in northern regions, desperate migrants continue to attempt these routes.

Border agents, already stretched thin by southern border concerns, are struggling to keep up with the surge along the northern border, especially in more remote areas.

Experts point to the Biden administration’s immigration policies as a driving factor behind the increase. Critics argue that the administration’s more lenient policies on asylum and deportation have led to a perception that the U.S. borders are open, emboldening more migrants to attempt illegal entry. Some lawmakers, particularly Republicans, are calling for stronger border enforcement and an end to policies they say incentivize illegal crossings.

This increase has also drawn concerns from local officials in border towns. Northern communities, which are typically quieter and have lower crime rates, are now dealing with the logistical challenges of housing, processing, and caring for large numbers of migrants. The cold winters and difficult terrain make border patrol in this region particularly challenging, and there are growing calls for more resources and support from the federal government to address the crisis.

As the Biden administration continues to grapple with immigration issues, border officials warn that the surge along the northern border may only be the beginning. With more attention focused on the southern border and increased enforcement efforts in Mexico, migrants are likely to continue seeking alternative routes into the U.S.

  1. Let 50x the average amount of illegals cross the border, give them the ability to vote, then tell them it was the Biden/Harris administration that made this possible, who do YOU think they’ll vote for? It’s the next new way demoncraps will use to cheat at the ballot boxes and steal the election. Cheating and lying are the ONLY ways these demoncraps can get into their goverment positions
