Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has stripped security clearances from 51 former intelligence officials who falsely labeled the Hunter Biden laptop story as Russian disinformation. The sweeping action, directed by President Trump, also bars several key Biden administration officials from accessing classified information and ends intelligence briefings for former President Biden himself.
Deep State Officials Face Security Clearance Revocation
The revocation of security clearances targets individuals who signed a letter in 2020 suggesting that Hunter Biden’s emails were part of a Russian information operation. This significant action follows President Trump’s directive to hold accountable those who misled the American public about the authenticity of the laptop, which contained damaging information about the Biden family’s foreign business dealings.
Former high-ranking intelligence officials including James Clapper and John Brennan are among those who lost their security clearances. The emails found on Hunter Biden’s laptop, including one from a Burisma executive about meeting then-Vice President Joe Biden, have since been confirmed as authentic, contradicting the claims made by these officials before the 2020 election.

Biden Administration Officials Also Targeted
Beyond the intelligence officials who signed the laptop letter, several prominent Biden administration figures now find themselves without security clearances. The list includes former Secretary of State Antony Blinken, former National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and prosecutors who brought cases against President Trump, such as Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg and New York Attorney General Letitia James.

Former President Biden is no longer receiving the President’s Daily Brief, a summary of crucial national security information typically provided to former presidents. Trump cited Biden’s own actions in 2021, when Biden stopped Trump from accessing intelligence briefings, as establishing the precedent for this decision.
Accountability for Election Interference
The security clearance revocations represent a significant step toward holding accountable those who potentially interfered in the 2020 election through misleading statements about the Biden laptop. The 51 officials who signed the letter played a crucial role in discrediting the Hunter Biden laptop story just weeks before the 2020 election, despite having no evidence that the materials were Russian disinformation.
“Per President Trump’s directive, I have revoked security clearances and barred access to classified information for Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, and Andrew Weissman, along with the 51 signers of the Hunter Biden ‘disinformation’ letter,” Gabbard tweeted. “The President’s Daily Brief is no longer being provided to former President Biden.”
Some Republicans who have been critical of Trump have also reportedly lost their clearances, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former national security adviser John Bolton. The revocations extend to certain law firms that opposed Trump, with lawyers at Covington & Burling and Perkins Coie also losing access to classified information.
