Dolton, Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard faces federal lawsuit over violent town hall brawl. The Democrat politician’s boyfriend allegedly assaulted critics during a heated meeting, sparking outrage over First Amendment violations. This latest scandal adds to Henyard’s troubled history of questionable spending and abuse of power.
Chaos Erupts at Thornton Township Meeting
A public meeting in Thornton Township, Illinois descended into chaos when supporters of Mayor Tiffany Henyard allegedly attacked her critics. The brawl broke out after activist Jedidiah Brown made disparaging remarks about Henyard during the meeting.
Brown claims Henyard’s boyfriend, Kamal Woods, threatened him before the situation turned physical. The activist is now suing Henyard, Woods, Thornton Township, and local law enforcement for failing to prevent the fight.

Federal Lawsuit Alleges Civil Rights Violations
The federal lawsuit filed by Brown seeks unspecified damages for alleged violations of his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Another man involved in the altercation, Lavell Redmond, has filed a similar lawsuit claiming threats of physical harm.

Both plaintiffs accuse Henyard of hitting them with a microphone during the melee. They allege the South Holland Police Department and Thornton Township security failed to intervene and protect citizens’ rights to free speech.
Mayor’s Troubled History Raises Concerns
This is not the first controversy surrounding Mayor Henyard’s tenure. WGN Investigates has reported on questionable spending and allegations of financial mismanagement under her leadership.
“There is no evidence that any business development opportunities came to the village as a result of either of these two trips.” – Former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot
Henyard’s cancer charity was shut down by the Illinois Attorney General, and she was found in contempt of court for failing to sign liquor licenses as promised. Township Democrats have nominated a replacement for Henyard as their supervisor candidate in the upcoming election.
